The Kola Kanda Project

The Girls’ Friendly Society conducts the Kola Kanda Project as part of its efforts to promote healthy food practices and support community well-being. Kola kanda, a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast, is a nutritious and wholesome food option prepared using natural ingredients.

This project was started in 2024 with the aim of providing a healthy food choice while preserving a valued traditional practice. Over time, it has grown steadily and has become a successful and well-supported initiative at the GFS Headquarters.

The income generated from the sale of kola kanda is used to support Sunday School meals for children at GFS branches. Through this project, the Society is able to promote healthy eating while also contributing directly to the care and nourishment of children.

The Kola Kanda Project reflects the Girls’ Friendly Society’s commitment to community health, sustainability, and supporting children through meaningful and practical initiatives.
