Junior Memberships
Pink Pearls and Star Sapphires
The Girls’ Friendly Society has two junior groups categorized according to age. Each group follows its own fun and educational programmes while providing opportunities for members to learn, grow, and serve God and the community.
Junior GFS – Pink Pearls
In its commitment to nurturing future young women leaders, the Society inaugurated the Junior GFS group named “Pink Pearls” on 31st October 2015. The launch coincided with the visit of two GFS youth leaders from Australia and the USA.
The name Pink Pearls carries special meaning. Pink represents girls, and the pearl symbolizes Sri Lanka, known as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean.
Pink Pearls is a vibrant group of talented young girls between the ages of 13 and 35 years. The mission of the group is to reflect God’s light in society through friendship, fellowship, and the sharing of talents, encouraging members to shine brightly like a pearl in their communities.
The group also builds international connections. In 2017, a delegate from Pink Pearls was selected to represent the Junior Sri Lanka Girls’ Friendly Society at the World Council held in Melbourne, Australia.
Activities organized by Pink Pearls include:
- Saree draping workshops for young girls
- Movie nights
- Nail care and grooming sessions
- Fun days with badminton and other games
- Bookmark creation
- Environment day Celebrations
- Get-togethers
- Discussion based games with a message
- Pink Pearls’ Christmas Party & Carols
- Pot Painting and Planting
Through these programmes, Pink Pearls continues to empower young girls spiritually, socially, and personally.
