Diving for Pink Pearls: Nurturing the Next Generation of Leaders

The GFS Sri Lanka hosted the “Diving for Pink Pearls” programme at our Colombo Headquarters on 2nd March 2026.

The event blended worship, fellowship, and interactive teamwork. By fostering spiritual growth and confidence, the programme equips these young women to take active roles as future leaders within the GFS movement and their communities.

International Women’s Day 2026 Commemorative Programme

In keeping with its ongoing commitment to empowering women and girls, the Girls’ Friendly Society held its International Women’s Day Commemorative Programme on the 13th of March 2026 at the GFS Headquarters.

The programme brought together 43 participants, including members of the Church of Ceylon Mothers’ Union.

The President of GFS Sri Lanka welcomed those present and appreciated the efforts of the GFS office staff in organising the event. In her address, she reflected on the theme Give to Gain, drawing on *Luke 6:38*, and highlighted the importance of giving as a core value of the Society’s work. She also presented a commemorative video showcasing the activities and achievements of GFS over the past year, reaffirming its continued focus on supporting and uplifting women through its programmes.

The programme included an address by the GFS World President, Ms Jeanne Withanage, on her joyful journey at the GFS, followed by a session by Ms Asha Fernando on the theme of International Women’s Day – GiveToGain.

An informative session on “Probiotics vs. Antibiotics” was conducted by Dr. (Mrs.) Priyanthi Molligoda, with active participation from those present.

The programme also included interactive games, fun activities, and dancing to music, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere and enabling participants to bond with one another.

At the conclusion of the programme, each participant was presented with a bookmark and a GFS key tag.

The programme was both successful and meaningful, bringing together spiritual enrichment and fellowship. Participants expressed their sincere appreciation to GFS for organising such an impactful event.
